Burning Skies of Elysium- The Last Revolving Door LP
Can’t seem to find a slew of info about today’s band, Burning Skies of Elysium (simply Elysium for short), who released one lone LP in 1987. I have only deduced that the band hails from the UK and is primarily a three-piece, for though little information exists, several photos of the band can be found.
As far as releases go, The Last Revolving Door was preceeded by one 12” and one 7” single, and the album itself was repressed on CD in 1993 via Spectre Records, with three bonus tracks attached. They are included in the link below, for your listening pleasure. Without any further ado:
Burning Skies of Elysium- The Last Revolving Door LP
1. Alone
2. For My Eyes
3. Carousel
4. Death Of The Clowns
5. Far From The Crowd
6. Beggarman Thief
7. Domino
8. Out On The Paperchase
9. Too Late For Tears
10. Fragments
11. One Afternoon
12. It’s All Over
13. Dutch Villa

Cool post Frankie. Thanks. I'm glad I could check them out as they were on Crisis Records, the same label as Shark Taboo and Stiff Kittens. Do you have more info on that 7" & 12"?
The singer's voice is close to that one of Ian Astbury.

Do you have the first LP by Comateens? The only one I could find was in .ogg format and I don’t know how to convert it. I’m dying for it.

curious guy- the ian astbury comparison is definitely spot-on. i’ll see if i can dig up their remaining work.
anon- the file seems fine to me, what’s the trouble?

file’s ok. thanks for this little gem. it’s incredible that they didn’t got wider recognition with this poppy and melodic output.

I thord i knew all the greatest alternative from 80`s,

Hi,
Burning Skies Of Elysium came from a town called Horley (very close to Gatwick Airport) in South East England. Actually The Cure came from a town called Crawley just the other side of Gatwick.
I saw Elysium a few times and was a bit of a fan but couldn't find any of their stuff on CD when I was looking around.
My 10 year old daughter (Elysia) is named after the band. I believe they disapeared after one oif the band members got very sick (cancer?).
To be honest they were legends in our town back int he 80's and I saw them around a bit and it's a shame they never made it.
Agree with the Ian Astbury comparison.
Other bands from the area / era are Karen D'Ache (no longer around) and ObJayDa who are still doing bits and pieces on the pub scene but mainly play cover versions these days.
Google them!

I talked with Ron Howe.
He said:
"The band went on to do some more stuff but unfortunately, the drummer Graham Mitchell, died from a long illness. We was replaced by Mark Simmonds, but then the bass player Matt Venn, died in a car accident … the brother Chris Mitchell then just lost heart."
It is very sad…

Hi all, just idly looking at Elysium on the web as I happen to have what I believe might be a rare recording – live at the Camden Underworld 9.12.91 (I was in a band on the same bill, we taped our gig and these guys seem to be on the other side of the tape!)
Can I post this for all to enjoy?
Seems a pity to keep it locked away after reading all about their terrible tragedy.
