Das Ding- Highly Sophisticated Technological Achievement Cassette

Here’s a rare cassette release by a band from the Netherlands called Das Ding, one of many in a line of fantastic European minimal synth bands. Not a ton of information to be gathered about these guys, but the cassette is one of three releases, their first appearing in 1982 and the final in 1985. Not sure when this one hails from, but if anyone in the peanut gallery knows, feel free to chime in. Otherwise, here’s the information proper:

Das Ding- Highly Sophisticated Technological Achievement Cassette
1. Oradour Sur Glane
2. Sad But True
3. Parental Malpractice
4. H.S.T.A.
5. Jazz
6. Reassurance Ritual

I’ve been harrassing the fellow on myspace to make everything available. He said he would, but that minimal wave label had been makeing an offer. As far as I know, he hasn’t put the remasters available yet. MAybe we will get lucky. This music is great:)

I just gave birth to my first blog.
Though I won’t be uploading music files because most of the stuff I have already exists on other blogs, but a few interesting music artists will be uploaded over time.

Mostly this blog will be about Visual Arts but I will touch on experimental/industrial/noise and other forms of music time to time.

I have a lot of ephemera that I collected over the years and I want catalog it and share it with other like minded creatures.

Now I don’t know what the etiquette is for asking to be added to your sidebar but if you like what you see then please add my link.

Hey that's me! Thanks for posting this. It is from 1982. Minimal Wave is preparing a vinyl release as we speak. The song Reassurance Ritual will also be included in a Minimal Wave/Stones Throw compilation due out soon. And yes, TimexPyres, I'll put up the tracks as soon as the record is out. But MySpace I don't like very much, probably use YouTube.

    Danny from the Netherlands

  5. Thanks! I'm waiting on it too.
