Denouement

Looks like mediafire suspended my account thanks to a few flagged files.  Awesome!

While it’s possible that my account will be unfrozen in due time, it looks like we’ll be winding down here very soon. I’m aware that there are plenty of other options out there and that file sharing will never truly die, however after nearly five years and roughly 500 posts, I’m afraid I just don’t have the time or energy to reupload everything for the third time during this blog’s tenure. Some things must come to an end I’m afraid, and unless the account bounces back, I’ll try and get the last things I had queued up out there to you all before closing the doors here.

  1. Not a regular commentor, but I just want to say if this is the end, then THANK YOU! You have introduced me to many different acts I was never aware of and it's been fantastic reading the posts and then taking a plunge from time to time.

Many thanks again for being one of the true survivors in the blogosphere!

Systems of Romance don't put your good work down… I'm not a regular commentor 2, but U do an EXCELLENT work in here. Seems that the guys that complaint about the unreleased compilations have a VERY VERY short mind. They could complaint to U and U would have taken off the files. BUT as i said some people R 2 mean nowadays. they don't wamt the good work to keep on and on and on… knowledge and information is 4 everyone and it is and will B FREE 4 ever!

there's a possibility that it had nothing to do with those two files and might have been the high volume of traffic on several files, which might have raised a red flag to mediafire.

i *do* have a few things left up my sleeve and will be posting them over the next few days. it's likely i won't have the time or effort to reupload everything again, especially since this could all repeat again in six months time, but anything's possible. still licking wounds and going to weigh my options for a bit longer.

thank you, everyone, for your kind words though, today and always.

My friends were always like, "why are you so obsessive about getting all of that music, spending so much time on these blogs?"…..I always responded with a "one day it will all be gone." I try to keep up with vinyl, but the price of this music on 12" has gone through the roof in the last few years, and I seriously just can;t afford to keep up. The funny thing is, when some label or artist complains and flags a file, they are doing more than just getting that file off the web, they are removing access to everything else. There is a reason you include an option to remove the file by request. I'm sure these artists and labels aren't complaining about the music starting to sell again on iTunes and reissues after collecting monetary dust for so many years, and that is largely due to this blog and a few others. Unfortunately, Mediafire has to capitulate to the pressure of the labels and show that they are taking some action to thwart "piracy," or else they will be gone, too. I can't ever get upset with MF, because they are the the most legit of the whole group of filehosts. No waiting, multiple files, fast DL speeds, no "rewards" programs for paying to use the service and distributing content en masse all over the internet. I truly hope they don't get shut down, I upload a ton of my own music to send to people I am working on projects with and i see no other service that offers anything close to what they have. I will say this much, if they do get shut down, I will boycott purchasing anything even remotely connected to any major label for a long, long time. This is total bullshit.

^Pretty much hit the nail on the head!

ye, that sucks. these old 7" are bound to make tons of money and fans for the artists, once sites like this are killed by brainiac governments. or not. truely, thank you for an amazing job with this site – in my opinion one of the most valuably contributions to modern international culture exchange – education, inspiration and pure awe! awesome! great job! thanks!
