{"id":1633,"date":"2012-12-04T01:06:12","date_gmt":"2012-12-04T01:06:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/?p=1633"},"modified":"2024-02-14T20:38:58","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T20:38:58","slug":"lost-desert-heterogen-infiltration-k7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/lost-desert-heterogen-infiltration-k7\/","title":{"rendered":"Lost Desert- Heterogen Infiltration K7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I owe a great deal of gratitude to Marc Collin of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nouvelle_Vague_%28band%29\">Nouvelle Vague<\/a> for the next two posts.\u00a0 I had the pleasure of meeting Marc at the weekly Wierd party a few years back, and I soon found out that he was involved in a handful of great coldwave projects before growing to critical and popular acclaim.\u00a0\u00a0 For those unfamiliar, Marc was involved in both Spleen Ideal and Persona, two cassette culture bands who released a handful of obscure releases.\u00a0 More on Spleen Ideal soon.\u00a0 Marc also ran the excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/label\/New+Horizon\">New Horizon<\/a> label, who issued an alternate version of this particular cassette.<\/p>\n<p>As for Lost Desert, little is known about this French band, though the tracks scattered across various compilations are some of the strongest female fronted French coldwave tracks, mixing both organic instruments and New Order-esque electronics.\u00a0 In fact, one of their most discovered tracks is aptly named &#8220;Tribute to New Order,&#8221; which appears on the excellent <em><a href=\"http:\/\/bx59cppw.blogspot.com\/2010\/02\/va-supercherie.html\">Supercherie<\/a><\/em> compilation.\u00a0 Other tracks appear on New Horizon&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/dreamsandvoices.blogspot.com\/2009\/03\/nos-annees-folles-complilation-1990.html\">Nos Ann\u00e9es Folles<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and the excellent\u00a0<em>Mea Pulpa<\/em> cassette, previously posted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/various-artists-mea-pulpa-k7\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This tape was originally released without a label in 1989.\u00a0 Most of these songs appear on the highly coveted <em>A Travers Le Miroir<\/em> cassette, which appeared on New Horizon in 1990.\u00a0 Considering the track list is near identical (and as this tape was distrbuted\/licensed by New Horizon according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/viewimages?release=4060955\">insert<\/a>), my guess is that these versions are the same across both tapes, with just two exclusive tracks per cassette, unless the titles were simply changed before the New Horizon edition.\u00a0 Anyway, this tape is certainly worth the hype, which features a highly melodic side A and a more electronic side B.\u00a0 A perfect release from France&#8217;s cassette culture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/lostdesert.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1634\" title=\"lostdesert\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/lostdesert-185x300.jpg\" width=\"185\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/lostdesert-185x300.jpg 185w, https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/lostdesert.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lost Desert- <em>Heterogen Infiltration<\/em> K7<br \/>\n1.
