{"id":1642,"date":"2012-12-18T00:26:57","date_gmt":"2012-12-18T00:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/?p=1642"},"modified":"2024-02-14T20:38:45","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T20:38:45","slug":"sixth-comm-the-taste-for-flesh-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/sixth-comm-the-taste-for-flesh-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Sixth Comm- The Taste For Flesh 12&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was difficult to choose the final post for 2012, somehow this particular 12&#8221; seems more holiday appropriate, in a morbid sort of way.\u00a0 Now that I think of it, this band is the perfect soundtrack for the end of the world, due this Friday if all goes according to plan.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure Sixth Comm are no strangers to readers of this blog, as the band was an outlet for Death In June vocalist\/percussionist Patrick Leagas, who abruptly left the band in 1985.\u00a0 Leagas (aka Patrick O&#8217;Kill) was the primary force behind the Death In June&#8217;s interest in synth\/dance-oriented music, and often re-recorded classic DIJ tracks under the Sixth Comm moniker (it may be sacrilege to most, but the DJ in me has a strong preference for Sixth Comm&#8217;s version of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TTqCDlulwYQ\">Calling<\/a>&#8220;).\u00a0 The first few Sixth Comm LPs (most of which have been released on <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/artist\/sixth-comm\/id216075571\">iTunes<\/a> and can be found on LP for modest prices) continue in this vein, mixing dark, beat-heavy electronics and Norse-inspired mysticism.<\/p>\n<p>I originally purchased this 12&#8221; for a non-picture disc version of &#8220;Othilia&#8221; to DJ at the Wierd party, but much to my surprise, I found the version here to be different than the recording that appears on <em>Morthogenisis<\/em>.\u00a0 The more <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=b1a72o2CMvk\">well known version<\/a> of the track clocks in at the same length, though is a more straightforward run through of the song.\u00a0 The other two tracks on this 12&#8221; appear on <em>Morthogenisis<\/em>, seemingly unchanged.\u00a0 The alternate version of &#8220;Othilia&#8221; is worth the price of admission alone, so hopefully even the biggest DIJ fan can find something new to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3127\" src=\"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/sixthcomm-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/sixthcomm-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/sixthcomm-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/sixthcomm.jpg 405w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sixth Comm- <em>The Taste For Flesh<\/em> 12&#8221;<br \/>\n1.
