{"id":2180,"date":"2013-12-04T14:29:27","date_gmt":"2013-12-04T14:29:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/?p=2180"},"modified":"2024-02-14T20:24:57","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T20:24:57","slug":"peggy-the-pills-nobodys-bride-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/peggy-the-pills-nobodys-bride-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Peggy &#038; the Pills- Nobody&#8217;s Bride 12&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a very low energy week here at SOR headquarters, so here&#8217;s something that gets my blood flowing a bit more, and hopefully will have the same effect on you.<\/p>\n<p>This is a one off Italo 12&#8221; from Peggy &amp; the Pills, recorded and released 1985. \u00a0 While some Italo records fetch insane prices (some of the highest I&#8217;ve ever seen, actually), this one can still be found for a few bucks, and is worth picking up for anyone interested. \u00a0 While the sound is very much in the Italo disco vein we all know and love, this song also calls the sweet, sugary, and sharp edge of bands like Strawberry Switchblade, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/pink-and-black-sometimes-i-feel-12\/\">Pink and Black<\/a>, and especially Book of Love to mind. \u00a0There&#8217;s also some guitar undercurrents throughout the track, little stabs of chorus-infused strings that add an interesting element to the track. \u00a0I&#8217;m also reminded a bit of Stephin Merrit&#8217;s Future Bible Heroes project a bit, the sardonic wit of the lyrics call to mind some of the best moments from\u00a0<em>Eternal Youth,\u00a0<\/em>an album I used to adore (but haven&#8217;t thought about since coming across this record).<\/p>\n<p>As with most Italo projects, the creators of this track had their hands in other releases. \u00a0\u00a0Keyboardist Marcello Ciao was also the engineer for an early Litfiba release, while Mario Natale (arrangement) also worked with Den Harrow, Clockwork, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Mario+Natale?anv=M.+Natale\">dozens of other Italo artists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/peggy-the-pills-nobodys-bride-12\/peggy\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3027\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3027\" src=\"http:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/peggy-300x291.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/peggy-300x291.png 300w, https:\/\/www.systemsofromance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/peggy.png 479w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Peggy &amp; the Pills- <em>Nobody&#8217;s Bride<\/em> 12&#8221;<br \/>\n1.
